The London Ambitions Portal allowed schools and businesses to connect to provide young people in London with high quality careers education programmes, work experience, internships and apprenticeships. It matched requests for career opportunities from schools with offers from businesses. These ranged from work experience, internships, mentoring, school assembly presentations, work shadowing opportunities and more.
We had to balance the disparate requirements for the portal from a range of stakeholders including schools, employers, the GLA and its partners. To do this, we used visioning workshops and interviews with numerous stakeholders to accommodate their needs. To make the set up process as seamless as possible for employers, we populated the backend database with numerous offers that were already shared online including corporate websites, government apprenticeships and much more.
The research we undertook gave us a deep knowledge of the careers education needs of schools, and how employers and other organisations are helping students to make the transition into work.
