School Improvement

We produce visual analysis of a wide range of education data to support schools, local authorities, MATs and school partnerships to improve outcomes for children

About our school improvement work

At Mime, we are passionate about supporting schools and educational organisations to make data-driven decisions that improve outcomes for students. This work is important to us because we believe that data has the power to drive positive change in education, helping those working with young people make informed choices that enhance teaching and learning.
Educational organisations choose to work with us because we combine technical expertise with a deep understanding of the education sector. Our experience spans over 15 years, beginning with our founder Steve’s work with education data in Wandsworth’s Research and Evaluation Unit back in 2003. Since then, we have remained committed to school improvement, developing innovative tools like our EYFS Tracker and producing school profiles that have been featured on the BBC. Our clients value our ability to make complex data clear and accessible, using engaging visual presentations to highlight key insights.
Our impact is seen in the tangible improvements schools achieve when they use our tools and insights. Our reports have been used by thousands of schools and over half of English local authorities, with nearly 100% renewal rates. From identifying areas of improvement to showcasing success stories, our data-driven solutions give schools the confidence to make strategic decisions and demonstrate their progress to stakeholders like Ofsted, governors, and senior management teams.

Dashboard products

We also have a range of off-the-shelf dashboards for local authorities and education providers. Licences for these include commentary reports and infographics, pulling out the key insights from your data and explaining what they mean for you. To find out more about our off-the-shelf products, see our products pages here:

School Profiles

Our primary and secondary profiles provide a comprehensive summary of numerous aspects of a school, including attainment and progress, attendance, exclusions, workforce and finance, in a consistent visual format. They include visual cues to help you easily pull out key points, benchmark comparisons and trends over time.

MAT & LA Insight Dashboards

Strategic dashboards and commentary reports spanning a range of topics – so you can prioritise support to the schools or groups of children that need it most.

School Reports for Parents

Accessible information about a school, empowering parents to make the right decisions about their child’s education. Co-designed with schools and parents, and featured on the BBC.

SS Tracker

The SS Tracker is our online tool for tracking and evidencing the progress made by young people with SEND, with a particular focus on non-academic outcomes. This allows MATs, schools and young people themselves to recognise and demonstrate progress that does not show up in traditional performance measures.

Inclusion Index

We know that many schools work hard to be inclusive, but that this work is often not seen by traditional measures of school performance. Building on our popular local area Inclusion Index, we developed our school-level Inclusion Index. This draws together a range of indicators around inclusion, highlighting each school’s strengths and weaknesses.

EYFS Tracker

An online tool to record and visually analyse children’s progress in any early years setting. Compatible with both DfE and Birth to 5 frameworks, and for use on computers or portable devices such as iPads.

Risk of NEET Toolkit

Statistical analysis to identify those at risk of dropping out of education and training, so you can target resources accordingly.
