Inclusion Index
We know that many schools work hard to be inclusive, but that this work is often not recognised by traditional measures of school performance. Building on our popular local area Inclusion Index, we developed our school-level Inclusion Index. This draws together a range of indicators around inclusion, highlighting each school’s strengths and weaknesses.
Building on our extensive experience working with data on inclusion, we will start with a recommended set of measures which we can adapt depending on your local context and strategic priorities.
Once we have produced the inclusion index showing each school’s performance side by side (see the example to the right), we meet with local authority, MAT and school leaders to talk through the findings. The inclusion index can then be used to compare different measures of inclusion across all schools in your local authority or MAT, and to identify schools where inclusion is a strength.
We then produce individual school one-pagers, presenting each school with a clear view of their own inclusion strengths and weaknesses, benchmarked against local authority or MAT averages.
