Risk of NEET Toolkit
Statistical analysis to identify those at risk of dropping out of education and training, so you can target resources accordingly
In spite of a law that requires all young people in England to continue in education or training until at least their 18th birthday, around 70,000 16 and 17 year olds are not in education, employment and training (NEET). Schools and local authorities therefore have critical roles in identifying and supporting pupils who are at risk of dropping out of post-16 education.
About our Risk of NEET toolkit
Using sophisticated statistical techniques, yet presenting analysis in a visual and accessible way, our Risk of NEET analysis explores the characteristics of 16 and 17 year-olds most at risk of not securing appropriate education or training. We use a range of data sources to look at the risk factors of children in your school, college and local area, including prior attainment, ethnicity, SEND, deprivation, attendance, exclusions and more. We also apply the same techniques for younger age groups to facilitate earlier intervention.
We provide visual analysis at an individual and group level, so you can see the students to support, and groups of children at risk, so you can identify the appropriate information, advice and guidance (IAG) to provide.
We can accompany this risk analysis with other analysis of post-16 pathways, including insights into appropriate levels of provision for different children, success rates, retention rates and long term outcomes in the workplace using Longitudinal Educational Outcomes (LEO) data. And we can also show how these vary by different student characteristic such as ethnicity and SEND.
