Mime and State of Life have been working with TASO to better understand the value of higher education for disadvantaged groups. Today, TASO published our evidence review, which summarises the existing research and makes recommendations for further work.

The report reveals that, while higher education is linked to clear economic benefits for disadvantaged students, they consistently earn less than graduates from more advantaged backgrounds.

Further research is needed to identify the impact of other characteristics such as ethnicity, gender and prior attainment and TASO have commissioned us to explore this, making use of the Longitudinal Education Outcomes (LEO) dataset to understand long-term economic outcomes.
