Since its launch in 2022, Mime and Wavehill have been working together to evaluate the Mayor of London’s Advice in Community Settings programme. This programme has funded eleven partnerships to support Londoners experiencing, or at risk of, financial hardship by strengthening links between advice services and community settings.
Today, we are pleased to announce the publication of our final evaluation report, drawing on in-depth quantitative and qualitative analysis to explore the impact of the programme and how delivery has evolved over time. This builds on the findings shared in our Year 1 Evaluation report and Year 2 Evaluation report to further evidence the deep and positive impact of the Advice and Community Settings programme:
- Across the three full years of delivery, 10,914 clients have accessed support through the programme. Including other household members living with the primary client, the support has also impacted at least an additional 9,686 people
- The programme has been particularly successful in reaching clients who have not accessed advice before, increasing from 52% at the start of the programme to 65% by the end of the third year of delivery
- Over £8 million of financial gains were achieved by clients as a result of the support provided, at an average of £3,600 per client receiving a financial outcome
- Almost three quarters of clients reported improvements to their health and wellbeing as a result of the support provided
- Funding received through the Advice in Community Settings programme enabled partnerships to strengthen existing relationships and build new ones with organisations, helping them reach new clients with more integrated, holistic support
By embedding services within food banks, schools, and local community hubs, we’ve connected with clients who might not have otherwise sought help, leveraging the existing trust and accessibility of these locations to provide culturally sensitive debt and welfare advice directly within their familiar environments.
