We are pleased to announce the launch of the Mime Inclusion Series.
This is a challenging, but exciting, time within the education sector. There is increasing scrutiny of how our schools support those most at risk in society, and Ofsted are beginning to move the discussion towards inclusivity and appropriateness of provision, rather than a focus on hard outcome data. It’s important that, as a society, we continue to ensure that the most vulnerable are not overlooked. All children and young people deserve the best that our education system has to offer and we are passionate about helping them gain access to it.

We have recently completed a major Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Post-16 Review jointly funded by the Mayor of London and the Department for Education (DfE). The recommendations from the review are starting to influence DfE policy. This led to us developing our Inclusion Index. We have spent a great deal of time exploring public SEND data and wanted to find a way to measure and promote inclusive practice beyond off-rolling. Over the coming weeks we will start the conversation by sharing our findings, digging deeper into the data and providing some explanations for the trends that we have found.

We are driven by the desire to communicate complex information with clarity in order to improve the life chances of young people. SEND is a key part of this. We want to ensure that these children are supported on their journeys towards reaching their full potential.
We’ll soon be launching our Inclusion Index via a series of six blog posts. In each post we’ll be exploring different aspects of our index, and discussing what we’ve learnt.
