Our new office!

As the lease on our Clapham office has reached its end (that five years flew by!), we have decided to move to a more central location in London. We now have a lovely office in The Print Rooms, handily located between London Bridge and Waterloo, right by the South Bank and the Tate Modern. It has a vibrant café onsite and loads of other refreshment options nearby – so, if you are in the area and would like to have a chat about what we do, please feel free to arrange a time to come by and say hi! Here…

Report Launch: National Citizen Service Sub-Group Analysis

The National Citizen Service have just published In The Mix with NCS, a sub-group analysis, jointly produced by Mime and Jump. This shows the programme’s impact on social mixing, cohesion and engagement. The analysis we produced demonstrated improvements in outcomes across a range of pupil groups. Download the report The report explores data from the 2016 and 2017 NCS surveys to show how different groups of young people benefitted across the three key outcome areas for NCS. Broadly speaking, participants who were female, from disadvantaged backgrounds, disabled or BAME were found to have been most positively impacted by their involvement in…

Providing an on-the-day results service for schools

Schools want comparative data as soon as the GCSE and A Level results are available. They want to understand how their results compare to other local schools. But it is not a straightforward process to get comparable data in such a tight timescale. We have provided an on-the-day results service for schools for the last 11 years and have some lessons to share on how to do it well. Introduction There is great interest in the performance of local schools on GCSE and A Level results days. Schools, the local authority, Councillors, parents and the press all want to know…

The Gap Years: Understanding the Median Gender Pay Gap

Of the 50 organisations reporting the largest gender pay gaps in March 2018, almost half were multi-academy trusts. A startling statistic. Since organisations were required to publish information on their gender pay gap in 2018, the discussion around gender inequality in the workplace has ramped up a level. It seems fairly astonishing that this is still an issue, and as a data-driven consultancy with equality at the heart of all we do, we felt we should address this topic and see how data can help us figure out what’s going on to cause such a disparity. The conversation about fair…

What’s happened to Attainment 8 scores this year? Analysis, Insight Reports & InfographicsSchool Improvement

What’s happened to Attainment 8 scores this year?

Are you looking at Attainment 8 scores and wondering why the 2017 results are so much lower than 2016? The new GCSE grading structure means that Attainment 8 scores in 2017 will be lower than 2016 for the same performance. The overall impact of this nationally is to reduce the average points scored by over 11% or a reduction of approximately 5 points in Attainment 8 scores. To get a year-on-year comparison, 2016 results should be rebased using the 2017 scores. Background The Government introduced the revised GCSE grades to provide greater granularity in the higher grades. They wanted to…
